In this hands-on program, Dr Mandikos will provide an update on what is new in posterior composites (including the indications and use of bulk placement techniques), Impression Materials, All - Ceramic Restorations, Provisional Materials and types of cement.

This course is designed to raise the awareness of the clinician to the possibilities of bridgework as a viable, predictable and long term alternative to dental implants. Conventional, cantilever and bonded designs will be covered, together with many clinical case examples.

A course designed for the new graduate, to pass on the skills , tips and tricks of private practice. The program will involve lectures with many case examples, as well as some live demonstrations, to present various clinical techniques to the attendees.

In this one-day lecture and workshop program, Dr Mandikos will cover the relevant theory of dentine bonding, to ensure attendees understand how bonding works, and what each of the different systems available actually does. He will demystify bonding protocols and bust a few “Urban Myths” along the way.

Then, in a fun and semi-competitive environment, attendees will make their own bond testing specimens with their preferred bond. They will then test their bond strengths in our special bond strength testing machine. It will be Dentist versus Dentist as course attendees go head to head, to see who can achieve the title of Top Bondodontist !

This program is designed around some very complicated, and at first glance, impossible to perform restorative dental procedures. We have all experienced the situation. Patients will present seeking to improve their smile when their teeth are clearly in the wrong position due to agenesis or aplasia, or seeking to correct their teeth which are malaligned or heavily discoloured teeth and their wedding/photo opportunity is just weeks away. How do we deal with such cases?

In this one-day workshop, Michael will showcase many aesthetically challenging cases, and some which at first glance appear to be truly impossible to complete restoratively. He will show you how it was done, and pass on tips for proper assessment and diagnostic workup. Michael will share the tips and tricks that can make or break these cases. 

In the hands-on exercise participants will learn how to do a diagnostic mockup to assess a case and to present it to their patient. 

This course will address the main causes of post-operative sensitivity with posterior composites, and present techniques that can be predictably employed by the

clinician to prevent it occurring.

Getting the Basics Right

In this one day, hands-on program, Michael will provide an update on what is new in posterior composites (including the indications and use of bulk placement techniques), Impression Materials, All-Ceramic Restorations, Provisional Materials and Cements. Specifically, he will address the common problems of post-operative sensitivity in posterior composites and how newer materials can assist to prevent this. Michael will demonstrate a technique for fabrication of quality provisional in those last few moments of the prep appointment, and also how to ensure you get your impressions right, every time. There will also be content on bonding and cementation systems and case examples of the different techniques for cementing various all-ceramic restorations. 

This full day program will alternate between lectures and hands-on exercises, ensuring all attendees are well versed in these new materials and techniques by the end of the course. 

The Indirect-Composite Restoration

A patient presents to your practice requiring urgent attention for a fractured molar. Secretly, you hope that the tooth will require a crown, but instead find that the tooth is largely intact and perhaps should be treated with a large direct composite. Disheartened at not being able to do a more complex and profitable procedure, you resign yourself to the mundane of a “533”.

Whilst this is of course being a little cheeky with the reality of such a situation, it is true that larger composites are very hard to do, and you would prefer to do a crown. But when your clinical judgment tells you that the tooth does not really need a full coverage crown, what is the alternative?

Too often this is the thought process we go through when in fact the present technologies and techniques available to us make this an exciting opportunity to practice minimal intervention, bio-mimetic dentistry. And with no laboratory fee, these procedures are profitable! This tooth does not require a filling, it is crying out for an adhesive, reinforcing, aesthetic reconstruction in composite resin!

During this lecture program, you will learn about the latest advancements in dentine bonding agents and ultra-low shrinkage composite resins. See how these materials can be implemented into your practice, bringing with them the benefits of lower polymerisation shrinkage and decreased stresses to the tooth. Post-operative sensitivity can be resigned to the past and these technologies will help to further improve the prognosis of the tooth and the longevity of these conservative restorations. In this presentation, you will see how these principles can be applied to anterior and posterior restorations.
